about

'Things Back Home' is a beautifully arranged dose of “yacht-country rock” that evokes a sense of pure nostalgia. Written to capture that feeling of pleasure and also slight sadness when you think about things that happened in the past, and how those things are inextricably stitched into our futures.

“I had a friend, he was like a brother. We were inseparable in those formative teen-freedom years, then time had its way and we grew apart. I miss him and the magic of that time. A lifetime within a lifetime. Riding in cars, kicking up dust and finding it all out.” – L.Sinclair

Things Back Home was written and arranged by Luke Sinclair in collaboration with Zane Lynd (electric bass & piano), Matt Dixon (lead guitars) and Liam O’Leary (drums). Recorded by Roger Bergodaz at Union Street Studios and mastered by Adam Dempsey at Adam Dempsey Mastering in Brunswick VIC, Australia.

We hope you enjoy! - Much love, The LSS

lyrics

hey old friend
i never thought i’d see you again
nothing changes much
but i probably should’ve stayed in touch
have a drink with me
if i cover one eye and if i count to three
would you drink with me? pull up a stool
we’ll talk about times back in high school

little kings in the summer
wherever we’d go we’d go with each other
young and rough
man i get sad when i think of that stuff

hey old friend
what was that song we wrote called again?
that ‘old alligator’ song
something about everything going wrong
but we still made it out, think i got it on tape
somewhere in a box at my mumma’s old place
we wore it out in your brother’s kingswood
covered in dust leaning back on the hood

we were kings in the summer
wherever we’d go we’d go with each other
young and rough
man i get sad when i think of that stuff

hey old friend
i know i let you down and i’ll do it again
but i keep it all in the back of my mind
with everything else that’s fallen behind
those days were just like a dream
there’s no one else that could know what i mean
the northeast country your brothers kingswood
covered in dust leaning back on the hood

we were kings in the summer
wherever we’d go we’d go with each other
young and rough man i get sad
when i think of that stuff

how are things back home
let’s have another and get down to the bone
how are things back home
things back home
